"i denied myself nothing my eyes desired;

i refused my heart no pleasure.
my heart took delight in all my work,
and this was the reward for all my labor.
yet when i surveyed all that my hands had done
and what i had toiled to achieve,
everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind;
nothing was gained under the sun."

- Ecclesiastes 2:10-11

today is her funeral

she used to beat me up with her wine bottle til my face started bleeding.  next day she would hold a bouquet and tell me "you are amazing i just adore you."
she broke her one leg a month ago and ever since then she would kiss me on the cheek everyday- not a day did she try to kill me.
today she got shot on the heart by her mother.  she tried to be ok at her last breath but her face started distorting with tears smudging her eyeliner and all blended into wrinkles like cream swirls in coffee.  i was watching her from the door, standing in her shadow and knowing that she once was mine.
the mother later stepped into the room to mourn with us, "everything is gonna be fine.  you are secured."
sun was oddly beaming through the window this afternoon.  i had dreamed about this day.  life has never been this easy.

today is 43rd anniversary of marcel duchamp's death

the man who turned the world inside out, smashed it and turned it over again.
he changed my entire concept for art when i studied him in sophomore year.  anything can be appreciated, even a beat-up disgusting toilet and how a name/title of an artwork/object can immediately lead you to see things out of ordinary.

Walter Arensberg used to comment on this piece, "A lovely form has been revealed, freed from its functional purpose, therefore someone has clearly made an aesthetic contribution."
